I read this recently and completely loved it.  Consequently, my sweet daughter gave me a 1950 copy of "the lives and times of archy & mehitabel" for Christmas.  Archy is a cockroach who sneaks into the newsroom at night and jumps on the typewriter keys to write poetry.  Since he cannot shift, there are no caps or punctuation.  Mr Marquis had to remember to leave a sheet of paper in the typewriter

  Tonight I just made a couple of simple painted background papers.  I just used Adirondack color wash inks with some gesso brush swipes.  I added a bit of  punchanella and a foam stamp that I really like.  I got it, along with a coordinating stencil, at Lowe's when they had decorative and faux finish paint supplies.   I finally added some collage pieces to my file folders.  I used acrylic medium for these, then mixed a bit of butterscotch Adirondack spray ink with some gesso, and painted over the top.  I also tried to lighten up these pages so that I can journal on them more easily.  A lot of my folders seem to be quite dark, but I'm liking them. My theme seemed to be "Home," although I'm not sure why.

Here I used gesso on the stencil, then pressed it into the page to get this negative design. Then a black pen to accent the flowers.  After the Adirondack spray inks, of course.  This is a real learning process for me and sometimes I feel like a complete failure.  But I just keep going until I see something I like.   Thank you, Roben-Marie,  for showing me that I can do this! More mixed media mayhem!  I absolutely love this class!  All of these are plain old file folders which have been gessoed, inked, stenciled, and who-knows-what-else?  Ok, I even added a little Martha glitter that I couldn't resist!  Roben-Marie is an amazing artist and teacher.  I highly recommend Mixed Media Mayhem.  Go look at it...really!

I just finished some new digital designs using Photoshop brushes that I made from photos I took in Italy.  I love making brushes using my own photos.  This one is a corner in Venice.  This was my first attempt at making a collaged pendant; a gift for my sister-in-law. The actual pendant looked pretty, with light aqua-blue seed beads, but the photo makes the beads look green!  I used a raw brass pendant from Ornamentea, an eiffel tower charm and text from an old french novel.  Then I sealed it with glossy Collage Pauge and hung it on some black cord.

I made these earrings with sterling silver wire and gorgeous lampwork beads from April at Sharpline Designs.  Her beads are little works of art and she is a pleasure to do business with.  Tomorrow I'll show you this great design I made for hanging all my earrings.

This is a postcard I made using Roben Marie's Garden Shapes.  All her art work is gorgeous and she has some very inspiring postcards for sale in her Art Goods Shop.  Wouldn't anyone want to receive a bit of beautiful mail from a friend?  Be sure you go to her blog and read about mail art.  It's very cool--fun to send and receive!

I took a photo of my friend blowing kisses, then used the threshold filter in Photoshop Elements to get this sihouette.  I used a brush for the hearts/kisses and added all the pertinent info.  She was very happy with how it all turned out, and so was I.  The party was loads of fun too!
